Hi, we are Dianna and Jack Jordan. We welcome you and hope you enjoy your virtual
tour of our ranch. Our ranch is located in the southern El
Dorado County wine country in the foothills of the California Sierra
Nevada Mountains. We are approximately 18 miles southeast of
Placerville off of Hwy 50 as it runs between Sacramento and South
Lake Tahoe.
We have shared a marriage
partnership since 1969 and our transition to the alpaca business is
a natural progression of our ever-evolving interests, relationship
and life passions. Please read
"Our Story"
for
a brief overview of our journey to where we find ourselves
today--alpaca owners and breeders.
Our herd offers a diverse
selection of alpaca heritage and style. Our herdsire and
foundation female bloodlines represent the "tried and true"
foundation imports and the "up-and-coming' North American bred and
born.
We are committed to the alpaca
industry through the building of the North American alpaca herd,
breeding quality fiber producing alpacas, continuing education, and
on-going support for our customers and alpaca colleagues.
Dianna is on the AFCNA (Alpaca Fiber Cooperative of North America)
Board of Directors. Jack is on the Calpaca (California Alpaca
Affiliate) Board of Directors.
As our business continues to grow,
so do the opportunities to do what we like to do most...provide
customer service, support and mentoring. We invite you to
spend a few minutes of your valuable time perusing our website.
If you like what you see and read we would appreciate the
opportunity to "talk alpaca" with you in person. We have
received so much help, support, and mentoring from other alpaca
owners that we would like the opportunity to "Pay It Forward."
Sincerely,
Dianna and Jack Jordan

Our
vision is to be a destination point for Alpaca owners and
breeders based on the quality of our livestock, our breeding program, and the
services we provide.
Our
mission is to create and maintain a reputation within the
industry and among our peers of honesty, integrity, sound business
practices, and to improve the quality of our herd--one generation at
a time.
Our
breeding program is built on
a foundation of
excellence. Some of the most notable foundation bloodlines in
the emerging North American alpaca livestock industry are
represented in our females and their offspring. Included in
these bloodlines are PPeruvian Accoyo Victor, Peruvian
Hemingway, 5Peruvian Chaccu, Accoyo Camilio, PPeruvian Demetrio, PPeruvian El Moustachio, to name a few.
Our breeding decisions
focus on the continual improvement of essential fiber
characteristics while maintaining or improving physical soundness in
each new generation.
Our commitment is
to the health and well-being of our alpacas, the building of the
North American alpaca herd and fiber production, continuing
education (attending and providing), on-going support for our
customers and alpaca colleagues, providing a wide-range of services
that meet the needs of our customers, and to the fulfillment of our
vision and mission.
We are the
proud and committed owners, guardians, and care-takers of the
alpacas at Somerset Farm. We invite you to plan a visit to our
ranch. Whether you are new to alpacas, or already in the
alpaca business, we look forward to
meeting you in person to share more about the magical, captivating,
"steal your heart" alpaca. Please contact us first.....we
wouldn't want to miss you!
